Host: JAKIM Malaysia
Venue: The Sunway Resort Ballroom, Kuala Lumpur
Date: 2022/6/30 On 30

June 2022, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Muslim World League (MWL) jointly hosted a conference titled “Peace, Cooperation and Unity” in Kuala Lumpur. More than 1,000 people attended the event, and 44 Islamic scholars and people engaged in activities related to Islam representing countries from all 2and 7 Asian countries were invited, and I was sorry to say that I was invited by Japan as the president of the NPO Japan Halal Association. Malaysian Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Haji Idris bin Haji Ahmad will be followed by Sheikh Dr. Sheikh Dr. After the speech by H.E. Mr. Mohammad bin Abdul Kareem Al Issa, the current Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. DatoSri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, gave a speech and addressed each guest.

Finally, Ms. Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, the first female director of JAKIM and the deputy director of JAKIMHalal Hub 12 years ago and who led us to the edge of the halal certification organization, gave a greeting.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Secretary-General of MWL greeted each of their representatives politely and in person, and when the Prime Minister of Malaysia stood before me, he was asked, “How many Muslims are there in the Japan?” and he replied, “About 180,000 people, about 0.1% of the population.” When I replied, he said, “I still have a lot of work to do.”

Recently, as turmoil continues in countries around the world, including the Islamic world, representatives of each country gave their thoughts on the theme of how to overcome these turmoil, in turn with a time of about 5 minutes. In one scholar’s talk, he said, “In Islam, there are already policies in Islamic law such as protecting the family, protecting neighbors and communities, and the roles of wives, husbands, and children, but if you live in accordance with these policies, there should be no problem, but because you do not follow them, it seems that society has become distorted.”

I was filled with a desire to refrain from talking about the essence of Islam in the presence of scholars of Islam, but I was told that Muslims have a special secret given to them by God, and that special secret is their faithful love for God. That is the key to the solution of ‘peace, cooperation and unity.’ There are also many things that divide that love and cause discord, and we need to work hard to overcome it, but the biggest challenge for us is to put “faithful love for God” first and foremost and nurture the next generation of people in our community who will have it.” We talked about that.

In addition, Japan people who are born Muslims have been born in Japan, and while the Muslim population is on the rise, including new Japan and foreign Muslims, there is a shortage of resources including human resources to solve various problems such as education of women and children in Islam, groups that are close to troubled Muslim women, support for new believers, etc. I asked all my brothers and sisters in the room for their support.  After the meeting, I was interviewed by the British media and told them to summarize what they had said at the venue and to restate what they wanted their Muslim brothers and sisters to support in the future.  This was the first time I participated as a representative of a Japan of Muslims, not as a representative of a halal certification organization. As a scholar or anything, I felt the weight of responsibility from beginning to end, and since it started early in the morning and did not have time to take a break, I was so nervous that I had to ignore fatigue and focus on carrying it out, but it was a very honorable opportunity. After talking about two things, since we have requested support and we must also have a system to receive it, I strongly felt that we would like to continue to think together about what we can do to ensure that Muslims in Japan and their next generation can face Islam firmly.
